Sarah & Thomas' Crichton Church Wedding
So here we are - one of the weddings I've been looking forward to the most, the whole year... Sarah and Tommy in the familiar surroundings of the Crichton Church, Dumfries, lovely people, warm autumn colours, sun... great light... all I could wish for from Crichton Church wedding photography, the conditions were perfect, all I had to do was make the most of it.
Looking back on recent weddings - I've photographed three in a row at the Dumfries Crichton Church and Easterbrook Hall this autumn - Rod and Lesley, Lisa &.Thomas and Sarah & Thomas... so I'm really pleased with the variety in the photographs here.
Some of my favourite moments from this wedding were among the black & white images, and I've included many of these in this gallery. There were some really heart warming moments that I just loved - among my favourites are the moment when Sarah's Mum sees her in her dress for the first time, the black & white image above tells such a great story, just in Sarah's Mum's facial expression. My other favourites are Sarah's flower girl, as Sarah and her Dad approach the Crichton Church, and of course - that great little giggle Sarah and her Dad are having behind her bridesmaids, before entering the Church.
This was another wedding with plenty of familiar faces - Laura and the girls from Blusha were there, doing their usual fantastic job of preparing everyones hair and makeup for the day, the staff at both the Aston Hotel and Easterbrook Hall were, also as usual excellent and very helpful, and the day went very smoothly in their hands.
The best thing about Sarah and Tommy's day for me was the beautiful, soft autumn light that we managed to find in the Crichton Church and Crichton Gardens wedding photography is always so exciting when there's great light like this... So, of course when we arrived at the gardens with the colours at their peak and the light just perfect, I just hoped I could do justice to it all... Well - these photographs of Sarah and Tommy, beneath the Lime avenue are some of my favourites from the year. And just when I thought we'd finished, and were waiting to meet the wedding car for the return journey I turned to see Sarah, back-lit by the low sun, the dark foliage behind her, and the light shining through her dress - wow! We're literally kerbside, waiting for the car and I jumped out into the road and snatched a few shots before the car arrived and we left the gardens for the day. It's these serendipitous moments that keep wedding photography vivid and exciting for me - and I'm so glad we got those images.
Processing Sarah and Tommy's photographs has been a real pleasure; to see the collection of the day come together, telling the story from start to end, with some really special moments throughout - congratulations Sarah and Tommy, it was a real pleasure to photograph your day!
